Basswood (Tilia americana)

Color: Heartwood is very light brown to almost cream colored and sapwood is nearly white.

Characteristics: One of the softest hardwoods in regular commercial use. It is noted for fine, even grain and exceptional stability.

Properties: Basswood has great sanding and machining characteristics. Because of its' fine, even textured qualities Basswood is one of the finest woods to carve. It is easily dried in all thicknesses.

Uses: Lumber core plywood’s, furniture, cabinets, picture frame moldings, woodenware and toys.
