Cherry (Prunus serotina)

Color: Light-reddish brown and will age to a warm brown color after a few years.

Characteristics: Moderately heavy and hard, strong. Machines and sands to glasslike smoothness.

Properties: Tree is deciduous, wood diffuse porous, close grained, exceptional stability. Cherry is easily carved as well.

Uses: Manufactured into fine furniture, paneling, millwork and carvings. A Jones favorite! Wood from any of our fruit trees is sometimes called "fruitwood." As a rule this implies cherry.
